Location of Jogon-in Temple

744 Jionji, Azuchi-cho, Omihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture

Omihachiman, the central city of Shiga Prefecture, is about an hour away by train from Kyoto or Osaka. Within the city, Azuchi Town is a historic site known for Azuchi Castle, built by Oda Nobunaga. Jogon-in Temple, located in Azuchi, is the setting for the art festival.

If you are coming by train

From Kyoto Station

Take the JR Biwako Line (Special Rapid) to Omihachiman Station (approx. 35 minutes) → Transfer to a local train and get off at Azuchi Station (approx. 3 minutes) → Walk from the south exit of the station (approx. 10 minutes)

*If you avoid transfers and only use local trains, you can get from Kyoto Station to Azuchi Station in just under an hour.

From Osaka Station

Take the JR Kyoto Line (Special Rapid) to Omihachiman Station (approx. 1 hour 5 minutes) → Transfer to a local train (approx. 3 minutes) to Azuchi Station Walk from the south exit of the station (approx. 10 minutes)

From Nagahama Station

Approximately 40 minutes to Azuchi Station on the JR Biwako Line (local train) → Approximately 10 minutes walk from the south exit of the station

From Kyoto city

Take the Meishin Expressway from Kyoto Higashi IC to Ryuo IC in about 1 hour, then take the general road for about 20 minutes.

From Osaka city

From "Suita IC" take the Meishin Expressway for about 1 hour and 20 minutes to "Ryuo IC" → about 20 minutes on the general road

From Nagahama City

Approximately 40 minutes by car

※About parking

・You can park in the gravel spaces within the temple grounds. Spaces are limited.

・If the gravel spaces within the temple grounds are full, you can park on the farm road on the south side of the temple. However, the farm road is not an official parking lot, and as it is narrow, cars may not be able to pass each other depending on where you park. Please be careful not to obstruct traffic.

About rental bicycles

・There are several bicycle rental shops right outside the north exit of Azuchi Station.

・Jogon-in Temple is about a 5-minute bicycle ride away.

・It is convenient if you combine it with sightseeing in the surrounding areas of Azuchi Town.

The Jogon-in International Art Festival has around 40 exhibition areas and events, so you can stay for half a day.
