An event related to the Jogan-in International Art Festival, where international artists performed and the mayor of Omihachiman participated.

Let's play at Nobunaga's temple!

Jogon-in Temple is hosting an "Artist in Residence" program, where international artists will stay from September 12th to October 8th to create works and interact with the local community.
During this period, we will be holding an "Experience Exchange Event" that anyone can participate in.
This is a special opportunity to meet artists from around the world and create works together.

What is Artist in Residence?

This is an initiative where artists stay at Jogon-in Temple, create works, and live together.
By interacting with parishioners and local residents, the artist reflects the local culture and relationships with the people in his work.

What is the "Art Making Experience" experience exchange event?

This is an event where you can experience art not just by "viewing" it, but also by "creating" it.
Everyone from children to adults can enjoy it safely, even if it's their first time.
Some of the completed works will be exhibited at the Jogan-in International Art Festival to be held at a later date (some works are also being considered for take-home use).

Japanese drumming experience (event report)

At the "Japanese Drum Experience" interactive event held on September 15th, the local team "Azuchi Nobunaga Shutsujin Taiko" gave a powerful performance on the temple grounds.
The day was a joyous occasion for artists and local residents to enjoy together, marking the start of the residency.

  • September 28th (Sun) 14:00~

*Each program is separate. You must apply for each desired date.

Fee

  • General admission: 500 yen

  • Junior high school students and younger: 300 yen

  • Junior high school students and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who must also pay the participation fee.

Content

The international artists who are currently in residence will act as lecturers and give direct lectures to the participants.
Create works of art with artists from around the world using your own imagination.
