<Five Artists Spark!>

Christopher Fryman, trumpet blazing in his 51st year in Japan, creates a live space where four dancers leap and bound.

It is

Butoh dancer “Katsura Kan,” stepping on the backbone of avant-garde art

“DU YuFang,” hailing from Beijing, whose dance weaves together seven years of training in Noh and Butoh in Kyoto's northern districts, a place of nightly processions of ghosts

“Matsumura Yumi,” a sharp and delicate dancer who gained experience early on based in European Capitals of Culture

And the multi-artist Osaki Midori, a visual artist/dancer and Hanayagi-ryu practitioner who traverses tradition and modernity.

She will exhibit her own work at this festival and compete in contemporary dance.

The performances of these five artists

challenge to resonate with and crystallize the soul of the works gathered at the Jōgen-in International Art Festival 2025.

Please join us for this moment of life.
